For Touch Therapists

Last Saved: 25/Feb/2022

Target Audience

The Programs listed below are designed for Touch Therapists - ie, those students who have at least one of the following qualifications:

  • A Diploma of Remedial Massage Therapy (HLT52015)
  • A Certificate IV in Massage Therapy (HLT42015)
  • A Certificate IV in Bowen Therapy (10846NAT)
  • A Diploma of Myotherapy (22316VIC)
  • A Diploma of Beauty Therapy with a significant focus on massage

Anyone is allowed to participate in our Oncology Massage Module 1 (OM1) Course. However, anyone who successfully completes OM1 must have one or more of the above qualifications to progress to Oncology Massage Module 2 (OM2). This is an area of ongoing discussion within OML.

Our aim is to get as many people trained as possible but not by allowing Students to complete Oncology Massage Module 1 (OM1) without a transparent and realistic possibility of successfully progressing to Oncology Massage Module 2 (OM2)

Programs

The Oncology Massage Foundation Program

Once an OML Student has successfully completed the Foundation Program, they are qualified to work in private practice. Unlike the Advanced Program, if you register for the OM1 Module, you do not need to register for the OM2 Module at the same time.

The two Modules are linked but generally students should complete the OM2 Module no less than 3 months and no more than 12 months after completing the OM1 Module.

To make it a little easier for all concerned, we do encourage students to enrol for the Oncology Massage Foundation Program as a whole - it is cheaper than paying for the OM1 & OM2 separately (see here) and it helps OML with Course scheduling.

The Oncology Massage Advanced Program

Once an OML Student has successfully completed the Advanced Program, they are qualified to work in multidisciplinary teams in large public and private institutions. Unlike the Foundation Program, if you register for the OM3 Module you must also register for the OM4 Module. The two Modules are linked and must be completed within about a month of each other.

Unfortunately, the Advanced Program is not currently available as we are seeking a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with whom to partner.

Refresher Modules

All of the modules listed above are available as half-price refreshers to allow past students to refresh their techniques, and ensure that they remain skills-current. This may be particularly relevant for past students who have not attended OML training in the last 3 years or more, or who have returned to the field after a break.

Specialised Modules

The following 1-Day Mini Tutorials have been developed and are available for OM2 Graduates to focus on specific aspects:

  • All Things Head & Neck
  • Scar Management.
